supersilent

The award winning SuperSilent line of Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) sawblades has been one of AKE’s showcase products for more than 12 years. AKE has introduced many innovative solutions and cutting tools since then but the SuperSilent still remains one of our popular product. We now take this opportunity to introduce or in the case of some of our long time customers reintroduce this innovative saw.

Unlike traditional saws, the SuperSilent does away with a saw gullet, instead utilising AKE’s MicroGeo® saw tooth geometry with Direct-Chip-Guide®-Design together with the ChipBelt (the slight recess on the outer diameter of the sawbody) to funnel away chips from the cutting material. You can see how it all comes together in the video below.

Now that we have seen the technology behind the saw, what does this all mean to an end user? Well, what you get is

  • A universal cutting saw that is suitable to cut all wood based material such as MDF, chipboard, plywood with excellent results, even if they are coated or laminated on both sides. It also excels in cutting dry solid wood with a good quality finish and abrasive materials like laminates.
  • The patented MicroGeo® saw tooth geometry ensures that you feel hardly any cutting pressure during operation. Despite the sharp cut it is safe to handle with minimal risk of injury.
  • Low noise during operation; upwards to 20 decibels quieter than conventional saws, that is a noise reduction of about 75%
  • An overall more cost efficient saw with the proper selection of PCD for the saw tips ensuring a long tool life and thin kerfs of the saw (from 2 to 2.4mm) resulting in minimal wastage.

In Malaysia, most of our successful use cases of the SuperSilent come from

  • Interior design, renovation or customised interior fitting customers that need to cut or size a wide variety of materials depending on their projects. A SuperSilent is ideal as its a one saw fits all application delivering the same consistent excellent results. No need to swap different conventional saws to cater for a specific material.
  • Operators that need to cut to size on site where excessive noise is an issue. The reduction of noise is significant enough to allow them to continue their work without any issue.
  • Cutting of highly abrasive material such as laminates like Bakelite, phenolic resin or mica sheets. Such abrasive material would dull normal carbide saws after a few cuts so many manufacturers turn to diamond cutting discs or wheels to cut them. However such discs are inefficient and slow. Relying on grinding or friction to cut through the material they generate a lot of dust particles which poses a health hazard as they may be inhaled by the operator.
  • This is where the SuperSilent shines; the diamond tips of the saw is especially suited for abrasive materials, tool life is considerably longer while cutting speeds are much faster. Furthermore cutting with the SuperSilent is cleaner, the chips generated are smaller than conventional saws but are not as fine as the particles released when cutting using discs or wheels posing less of a health hazard.
  • Particularly troublesome coated or laminated wood based material where tearing may occur when using conventional saws. The MicroGeo® saw tooth geometry is perfectly suited to minimise such occurrences due to its low cutting pressure during cutting operations.

Feel free to reach out to us for more information or if you think the SuperSilent is applicable for your application and need an offer!

Take note the SuperSilent main saws are available from 250mm, 300mm and 350mm (or from 10 to 14 inches) and designed for table saw and vertical panel sizing machines.
